I was contacted to work with a group, including former NHL executives & players, who were putting together a proposal to organize a new international hockey tournament which has become the World Cup of Hockey. This proposal was presented to several groups, North American and international, as a new tournament format that would create a similar structure and profile for hockey as for that of soccers' World Cup.
As the tournament has evolved since it's first year, I've updated this post to include the full concepts that were developed as part of the proposal process. Naturally, this was in the extremely early stages of the tournament project, so it's unsurprising that the identity and the structure of the tournament itself have changed greatly over time and this early icon being left behind. It was still a ton of fun to work on.
